Shalom Club Takes Trip to 'Anne Frank: The Exhibition'
On Friday, May 2, a group of students and teachers traveled to New York City to visit "Anne Frank: The Exhibition" at the Center for Jewish History, sponsored by the RPS Shalom Club and organized by club advisor Ms. Orli Bander.
RPS students Spencer Applebaum '26, Jake Carlin '25, Matthew Finkelstein '26, Abhinav Hari '25, Leela Menon '25, Sawyer Moss '25, Sasha Portnoy '26, and Michael Shen '28 were joined by Ms. Bander, history teacher Mr. Ben Hawkins, and French teacher Mr. Isaiah Seibert to view this exhibit on its first time outside of Amsterdam.
The exhibit contains never-before-displayed artifacts and a full-scale recreation of the Annex where Anne and her family hid from the Nazis for two years during World War II, before being discovered and sent to concentration camps. The exhibit focuses on Anne's life before and during the war, providing important background for understanding her famous diary.
We were glad to have the opportunity to view the exhibit, and students shared that it was a very moving and informative experience.
