First Grade Finds Art Inspiration at Grounds for Sculpture

First Grade Finds Art Inspiration at Grounds for Sculpture

Mrs. Corbin’s First Grade class, along with a helpful group of parent chaperones, enjoyed a beautiful day at Grounds for Sculpture on Friday, October 3.

The students explored artwork across the 42-acre park in Hamilton, New Jersey, an experience that inspired the sculptures they’ve been creating in art class. They gathered for lunch near an enormous sculpture of a snake embedded in the ground that immediately caught their attention, then set off to discover more of the park’s pieces.

They especially enjoyed the pond filled with koi fish and the stealthy, well-camouflaged frogs they found perched on one of the sculptures. And, of course, they also loved riding the bus, which, if we’re being honest, was probably a close second to the works of art as far as highlights for the kids.

All in all, it was a wonderful experience for our first graders!
