Critique & Production Class Creates Art from the Ordinary
With nothing more than ordinary paper plates, students in Dr. Dunnell’s Critique & Production 1 class are reimagining the everyday as art.
Over the past few weeks, her students have explored non-objective design—art without recognizable subjects—by transforming a single medium, the aforementioned plates, into bold, balanced artwork. They experimented with cutting, layering, and arranging the plates to create dynamic compositions, relying only on that single material and adhesive to hold everything together.
We were especially impressed with their ability to create unique pieces that put their artistic voices on display despite challenging constraints.
